A consultant orthodontist’s practice taken over by the Yorkshire group in 2025

The Midlands clinic did not start from an empty shell the way the group’s Chelsea one did. The Pershore Road premises in Selly Park were One Devonshire Place Orthodontics, run for years by consultant orthodontist Robert Slater; in September 2025 the site was re-registered with the Care Quality Commission under YDS Birmingham Ltd, Mr Slater staying on as registered manager and Dr Alhassan Dalghous joining as nominated individual. Orthodontics therefore remained the backbone, and the group’s cosmetic and implant range was layered on top. Care is private.

Treatments and services

Eight surgeries, one of them a dedicated orthodontic suite, carry clear aligners and fixed, ceramic and lingual braces for children, teenagers and adults; children are ordinary patients here, with examinations of their own. Alongside them sit Nanofill Composite Bonding®, the group’s registered resin protocol, porcelain and zirconia veneers, crowns, white fillings, root canals, gum contouring and grafting, hygiene including Guided Biofilm Therapy, and whitening through an approved Smile White centre.

Implants for difficult jaws

Single implants, implant bridges, All-on-4 and full-arch work run under Teeth in a Day™: a fixed temporary bridge goes in at the surgical visit while the final teeth are built in the group’s own laboratory. Where bone has been lost there are grafts, sinus lifts, and zygomatic and pterygoid implants, which anchor into the cheekbone and the skull base instead of the jaw — the route for people told elsewhere that implants were out of reach.

Sedation and access

The sedation ladder runs from numbing creams through tablets and inhalation to intravenous sedation, with a full-day option for long full-arch sessions. The site has parking of its own, which a city-centre practice cannot match, and it draws patients from Edgbaston, Selly Oak, Northfield, Hall Green, Perry Barr and Sutton Coldfield.

Who it suits

Families in south Birmingham who want braces or aligners under specialist orthodontists; patients with advanced bone loss who need zygomatic or pterygoid anchorage; and anyone who would rather drive than hunt for a space in town. NHS patients need another practice.
